In search of an adventurous and safe way to spend your weekends? Look no further. University of Miami students, faculty, and staff can now rent watersport and camping gear from Outdoor Adventures at Lakeside Village.

If you’re looking to take advantage of Miami’s sunny skies and gorgeous waterways, rent a stand-up paddleboard or surfboard with your roommate and head to the beach. Or if you want to discover South Florida nature, check out a tent, sleeping bags, and cooking gear for a night under the stars.

“It’s all about self-led adventures. We want people to get outside and be active,” said Trey Knight, the assistant director of Outdoor Adventures. “Those things help us to be more healthy, mentally and physically.” In the future, he said, the program will grow to include instructor-led adventures like group paddle and camping trips.

Advanced reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling Outdoor Adventures at 305-284-5116. All equipment bookings require an appointment, accessible online. For rental prices,* pre-planned trip routes, and more details, view the Outdoor Adventures website.

*Renters are held financially responsible for cleaning, theft, loss, abnormal wear and tear, damage, and any late fees assessed. For more safety and instructional information about available equipment, browse the Outdoor Adventures YouTube channel.
