Ever Brighter ‘Festival on the Foote Green’ brings unique experiences to Homecoming

Schools and colleges across the University will celebrate the Ever Brighter campaign with their own flair at this year’s annual Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.

As alumni, parents, and other fans converge on campus for Homecoming, the University’s schools and colleges will celebrate the Ever Brighter campaign at the Foote University Green and Lakeside Village on Friday starting at 5 p.m.

Visitors can tour the tents that showcase the unique strengths and experiences of the schools, colleges, and units participating in the “Festival on the Foote Green.”

Here’s what to expect in each tent.

School of Architecture

See the future of building and design at the School of Architecture maker-space experience. Get hands on with physical models of real-life building projects, live 3D printing, and virtual reality flythroughs. Join faculty and staff members and students who will take you just over the horizon into the near future of architecture.

College of Arts and Sciences

Meet a robotic soccer player and glimpse the creativity, ingenuity, and technology that powers the College of Arts and Sciences—the intellectual core of the University where liberal education and transformative research create new insights and communities of learners while championing lifelong journeys of discovery.

Miami Herbert Business School

Experience the Miami Herbert Business School’s own Financial Genius Bar. Ask our expert faculty panels your most pressing financial questions about the solutions you seek—from estate planning, investment mixes, growth strategies, income producing assets vs. equities, stocks, bonds, cryptocurrencies, and more. School of Communication

Stop by the School of Law tent and try your luck at law school trivia, guessing the rule of law from actual cases, or spin a wheel to win a prize.

Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science

Watch real marine life. Witness how the ocean acidifies and learn about the crucial work researchers at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science are doing. With climate change at the forefront of pressing global issues, this learning experience is perhaps the most vital to the future health of the planet and ocean life.

Miller School of Medicine

While learning about all the latest breakthroughs and medical advances, try your hand at our very own life-sized version of “Operation.” Don’t worry; if you haven’t played in a while, plenty of experts will be on hand to guide you. Games, prizes, and knowledge await you.

Frost School of Music

Celebrate the music that’s in our DNA during this unique experience. Hear from the Frost School’s top talents and listen to Grammy Award-winning artists through Spotify codes, headphones, and iPads. Student groups and faculty and staff members will not only educate you but entertain you.

School of Nursing and Health Studies

Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC)

Learn more about the NFL’s No. 1 fundraiser, which supports groundbreaking research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Stop by the DCC tent to register for the Dolphins Challenge Cancer taking place on February 26, 2022.

Following the Festival on the Foote Green, the annual Boat Burning and Fireworks Show will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Lake Osceola.
