The annual University of Miami ’Canes Day of Service was held on Saturday, April 23, with 10 participating ’Canes Communities hosting events, including Atlanta, Broward County, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Tallahassee, and the Tampa Bay area.
The flagship event was hosted at Virginia Key Outdoor Center, where volunteers participated in shoreline and coastal cleanup. At an interactive lunch and learn following the debris removal, researchers from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science provided information about the impactful efforts of coral reef restoration.
