University embraces new students with informative, entertaining ’Cane Kickoff

Photos help us take a look at new ’Canes and their family members as they were celebrated and welcomed to the University of Miami during orientation events.

Students from nearly all regions of the world made their transition into the Hurricanes family last week. With a jam-packed schedule of events, ’Cane Kickoff celebrated and welcomed new students as they made their transition into college—some for the first time, and others as transfers. And many were accompanied by family members as they moved in on campus.

That transition was made easier thanks to a week of programming designed and hosted by the Department of Orientation and Commuter Student Involvement. The mandatory program aids news students in their transition to the University by giving them a plethora of information, letting them know how to access that information, helping them to feel comfortable on campus, and teaching them some of the traditions at the U.

Now that fall 2022 classes have started, take a look back at the excitement of ’Cane Kickoff orientation week.
