Standing by its mission to produce the county’s top leaders in technology and innovation, the University of Miami has partnered with the City of Miami for the third Venture Miami Tech Hiring Fair.

The free event at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 29, will feature remarks from participating partners and an opportunity for on-the-spot interviews and hiring.

Venture Miami, a task force focused on making Miami the “capital of capital,” will amass experts in technology and entrepreneurship for a night of networking and engagement.

“This is a great event that is different than your average fair because the main focus behind Venture Miami is to keep the talent within Miami,” said Douglas Neese, associate director of employer engagement at the Toppel Career Center. “At Venture Miami they are specifically looking to retain the amazing talent that the city has to offer.”

This year’s event follows the University’s Thanksgiving recess, which allows students prime time to take advantage of the many resources the Toppel Career Center has to offer. From help with resumes and cover letters to interview preparation to on-site professional headshots, the University’s one-stop-hub is available to assist ’Canes with every part of their path to career success.

“This is the perfect event for students who have multidisciplinary interests at the University and are interested in blending those interests with data analytics, coding, and more,” said Neese. “It’s easy to register and there’s expected to be a quick turnaround time for students who are interviewing on the spot.”

This year, Venture Miami is offering participants two $10 Uber vouchers to use for roundtrip transportation by using code VENTUREMIAMI22 at checkout.

Students also can utilize the Metrorail for transportation to the downtown Miami campus, easily accessible from the Government Center station, explained Neese.

University of Miami students who are interested in making personal connections with hiring managers and recruiters from some of the top tech companies, including BankUnited, Amazon, Ford, and Florida Power & Light, are encouraged to attend.

Neese recommends that students dress professionally and be ready for on-site interviews and on-the-spot hiring. Job seekers who are interested in attending are encouraged to pre-register.
