Emergency notification test scheduled for Wednesday

The Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full system test of the Emergency Notification Network between 12:05 and 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15. This brief federally required test will include the activation of the following communication methods:

  • SMS text messages to cell phones (with a link).
  • Voice calls to cell phones.
  • Email. 
  • Desktop computer rolling banner.
  • University of Miami website banners.
  • Emergency preparedness social media updates at facebook.com/umiamienn and twitter.com/UMiamiENN.
  • IP telephone broadcast—your VoIP office phone may receive two alerts as part of this test.
    • Coral Gables and Marine Campuses—Screen text and public address via speakerphones.
    • Medical Campus—Screen text only.
  • Cable TV—Coral Gables Campus and streaming only.
  • Digital signage in select Coral Gables Campus buildings.
  • Outdoor public address speakers covering the following campus areas:
    • Coral Gables Campus—Student Center Complex patio, Lake Osceola, Foote University Green, and Feldenkries Plaza.
    • Marine Campus—Exterior areas.
    • Medical Campus—Exterior areas.

The test messages last approximately one minute and will clearly state, “This is a test of the University of Miami Emergency Notification Network. This is only a test. No further action is required.”
