More than 100 organizations will be in attendance at the Toppel Job and Internship Expo on March 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Watsco Center. The goal? To hire full-time employees and interns in various industries. Some of the companies attending include Bloomberg, the Central Intelligence Agency, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the University of Miami, and more.
With graduation and summer internship season fast approaching, students from all undergraduate and graduate schools and alumni are encouraged to attend.
“The expo isn’t only to find jobs or internships. It is a good networking opportunity to get your foot in the door with representatives,” said Marissa Alvarez, assistant director of career services at the Toppel Career Center at the University of Miami.
Alvarez recommends that students come dressed business professional, with physical resumes in hand and their Handshake accounts updated. Some employers prefer working directly through Handshake. Registration is not required but is recommended. Attendance is free—all you need is your ’Cane Card.
Through Handshake, students can preview employers that will be attending the expo.
Toppel Career Center offers support services Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., both in-person or via Zoom. Students can polish up their interview skills, get help with resumes, and assistance in researching jobs based on a student’s major. Visit Toppel Career Coaching for more information.
Students who are researching different career options or are in between majors can use the expo to speak with employers to learn more about the positions they have to fill, and what skills and experiences would make them a more valuable hire.
Log on to Handshake for more information and to register for the Toppel Job and Internship Expo.
