Throughout the 2022–23 season, the University of Miami student-athletes maintained a remarkable trajectory of success. From history-making NCAA appearances to top-tier academic accolades, they continue to excel in the classroom and beyond.
- Miami placed 235 student-athletes on the 2022–23 ACC Honor Roll.
- In spring 2023, student-athletes garnered a grade point average (GPA) of 3.17, marking the nineteenth consecutive semester that averaged a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
- The NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) was 93 percent, and Miami posted a 977 in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Report. The GSR rate matched the school record set in 2012.
- Seven programs achieved perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000—men’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and volleyball.
- Miami captured the 2022 NCAA Team Works Community Service Competition, recording 100 percent student-athlete participation, totalling more than 2,600 hours of community service.
- University of Miami Athletics posted a perfect score of 100 on the Athlete Ally Athletic Equality Index.
- Men’s basketball advanced to its first-ever Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament, defeating Drake University, Indiana University, University of Houston, and University of Texas at Austin before taking on and falling to the University of Connecticut in the semifinal.
- Women’s basketball advanced to its first-ever Elite Eight appearance, defeating Oklahoma State University, Indiana University, and Villanova University before taking on and falling to Louisiana State University.
- Nine student-athletes won ACC individual titles and 13 earned All-America honors.
- Russell Robinson finished as national runner-up in the triple jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
- Isaiah Wong earned ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year honors.
- Max Flory swept all three men’s diving events at the ACC Championships and was named ACC Men’s Diver of the Year.
- Randy Ableman earned ACC Men’s Diving Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time.
- Jim Larrañaga became the 35th Division I Men’s Basketball coach to eclipse 700 career wins.
- Paige Yaroshuk-Tews notched her 400th career win as Miami’s women’s tennis coach.
- The Hurricane Club raised more than $26 million, an increase of 36 percent more than the previous fiscal year. The total number of donors increased by 8,000 and the donations included eight seven-figure gifts.
- The ninth-annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics raised $700,000.
- Two ’Canes (Jordan Miller, Isaiah Wong) were selected in the 2023 NBA Draft, giving Miami two draft picks for the fourth time in program history.
- Six ’Canes were selected in the first 10 rounds of the 2023 MLB Draft, which tied a program record.
- Miami was one of only four schools (along with Michigan, South Carolina, and Tennessee) to have a player selected in the first three rounds of the MLB, NBA, NFL, and WNBA drafts.
- Former ’Canes offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie and former head coach and player Mark Richt were selected to the College Football Hall of Fame.
