Attend a hurricane preparedness training session.
Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.
This one-hour interactive training is appropriate for all levels of experience with hurricanes and strongly recommended for everyone. The class offers a brief discussion of hurricane facts and figures and interprets forecasting data. It also provides important information about how to stay safe before, during, and after a storm. Lowe IgNite: Cuban Connections 
Thursday, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m. 
The Lowe Art Museum will kick off the fall semester with a night to remember. Participants will celebrate “What goes up must come down,” an installation created by collaborators and Cuban American artists Antonia Wright and Ruben Millares, and hear from Michael Bustamante, the Emilio Bacardí Moreau Chair in Cuban and Cuban-American Studies. This event is free for all Lowe Museum members. Membership opportunities are available for free to University students and at a reduced rate to University faculty and staff members. Purchase tickets to attend the public program.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs through Nov. 30. Learn about the many ways you can prepare: review our brief guide to hurricane preparedness, participate in hurricane preparedness trainings, and save on essential supplies during the 2024 Florida Disaster Preparedness Tax Holiday from Aug. 24 to Sept. 6.
