University student residents compete to reduce their ecological footprint on Coral Gables Campus
Competition ends Oct. 31; winner will be announced the week of Nov. 18
Hosted by ECO Reps in partnership with the Office of Sustainability, the U Conserve competition encourages students across residential colleges to practice greener living habits as they aim to reduce their college’s ecological footprint, which is measured by electricity, natural gas, and water consumption. Join the contest by downloading the GetGreen app. On Oct. 31, the University’s residential college that achieves the highest percentage of reduction—compared to consumption in September 2024—will be named the winner and celebrated with sweet treats. Faculty Showcase 2024
Friday, Nov. 1, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
University faculty are invited to attend the 10th annual Faculty Showcase at the University of Miami’s Platform for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (PETAL). This conference offers a chance to share, network, and explore how colleagues are enhancing student experiences with innovative teaching methods and technologies. Presentations will cover topics such as AI, virtual and augmented reality, student partnerships, simulations, and grading tools. The event concludes with an interactive theater workshop on managing classroom conflicts and navigating difficult conversations. Register to attend the Faculty Showcase at the Lakeside Expo Center.

University community is invited to register for the Banana Ball ticket lottery list. Those who sign up will get on the exclusive lottery list and be among the first to know when tickets go on sale to secure a spot for this unique event at loanDepot Park. The Savannah Bananas, the team that's redefining baseball with their quirky antics and nonstop energy, are returning to Miami, in March 2025. Known as the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball, they promise a fast-paced game filled with fun and fan involvement. University faculty and staff members can learn more on the Hub. 

Compliance and Ethics Week 2024
Monday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m.

The University community is invited to attend an interactive session titled “Fostering a Positive Work Environment.” Facilitated by Maria Sevilla, Title IX coordinator, the session will include the importance of cultivating appropriate relationships and proactive communication in the workplace. An annual initiative organized by University Compliance Services, Compliance and Ethics Week aims to raise awareness of compliance and risk-related topics, recognize ethical behavior, and reinforce values and behaviors for building a better U.
