University of Miami Oral History Project for veterans and active-duty military 2024
Share your story now.
Through the power of storytelling, this dedicated oral history project will capture and preserve the unique experiences of the University’s active-duty military and student veterans, alumni, and faculty and staff members. This partnership by the Veterans Unite Employee Resource Group, Veteran ’Canes Society, Veterans Resource Center, University Archives, and Making History Project aims to honor and preserve these vital stories. Student Health invites all Canes to get their annual flu vaccine. Walk-in appointments are available at Student Health, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, free flu shots will be available at the Westbrook Walkway on Monday, Nov. 11, and Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Read more about flu shots and protect yourself this holiday season.

‘Be Your Own Inspiration: Women Leading Change’

Big Brothers Big Sisters School-to-Work information sessions
Wednesday, Nov. 13, and Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m.
Since 2013, the University of Miami has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters to connect local high school students with dedicated mentors. Through just a few hours each month during the workweek, University employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in a young person’s life. Join an information session where representatives from Big Brothers Big Sisters and current University mentors will answer questions and share their experiences with the School-to-Work program. This impactful initiative is open to all University staff and faculty members on the Coral Gables, Marine, and Medical campuses.

6th Biennial Miami Epigenetics and Cancer Symposium
Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sunday, Nov. 17
This two-day event organized by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will bring together renowned experts in epigenetics who are helping to advance knowledge and new cancer therapies. Designed for scientists at all career stages, the symposium welcomes fellows as well as biology and medical students to attend. Participants will explore various vital topics, have an opportunity to engage with top scientists, and stay at the forefront of cancer epigenetics research.
