The Office of Emergency Management will conduct a full system test of the Emergency Notification Network between 12:15 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23. This brief federally required test will include the activation of the following communication methods:
- SMS text messages to cell phones (will include a link)
- Voice calls to cell phones
- Desktop computer rolling banner
- University of Miami website banners
- Emergency preparedness social media: com/UMiamiENN and x.com/UMiamiENN (formerly known as Twitter)
- IP telephone broadcast—your VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone may receive two alerts as part of this test:
- Coral Gables and Marine campuses—screen text and public address via speakerphones
- Medical Campus—screen text only
- Digital signage in select Coral Gables Campus buildings
- Outdoor public address speakers covering the following campus areas:
- Coral Gables Campus—Donna E. Shalala Student Center Complex Lakeside Patio, Lake Osceola, Foote University Green, and Feldenkreis Plaza
- Marine Campus—exterior areas
- Medical Campus—exterior areas
The test messages last approximately five minutes and will all clearly state, “This is a test of the University of Miami Emergency Notification Network. This is only a test. No further action is required.”
