Annual UM wireless and wired network certificates update
Starts Monday, Aug. 25
The University’s wireless networks—CaneNet Wireless (for students), UMiamiWireless (for Coral Gables/Marine faculty and staff members), and SecureCanes (for UHealth/Miller School faculty and staff members)—and wired networks connection certificates will be updated for all campuses starting the week of Aug. 25. Canes may receive a prompt on their device(s) to connect or trust the new certificate when they connect to the University’s wireless or wired networks. Learn more about the update.

Multiple dates throughout the fall semester
Open to all Canes, the Startup Workshop Series will guide participants throughout five sessions starting Aug. 28, teaching them how to use resources to run and scale their business. Founders can learn to pitch like pros through a four-part Pitch Competition Readiness workshop series that runs from Sept. 16 through Oct. 3. Established in 2008, The Launch Pad is the essential resource center for the University’s entrepreneurial community. Faculty Senate Meeting

All University faculty members are invited to attend the first Faculty Senate meeting of the academic year, held at the Faculty Club located at 1350 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, FL. Enroll in the 2025 Design and Management of Cancer Clinical Trials Course beginning Friday, Sept. 5.
Offered annually by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the free virtual course is a global education and networking event for anyone interested in clinical research, including clinicians, researchers, trainees, students, and staff members. The 2025 course is held on Fridays from Sept. 5 through Oct. 10. Participants will learn basic research concepts and principles that underlie the design and day-to-day conduct of cancer clinical trials. Course highlights include special sessions on AI, community-engaged research, and a Dungeons and Dragons-style role playing game to shed light on the drug approval process. Free CME and CNE provided. The Mini Canes Day Off program is a fun, active, and educational camp designed to support University of Miami employees during Miami-Dade County Teacher Planning Days. This program delivers a well-rounded experience for children in grades K through 6 (ages 5-12). Registration is now open for all dates in fall and spring semester. Sign up by calling the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center sales office at 305-284-5433. Note, registration for camp starts Tuesday, Sept. 23, ends on Monday, Sept. 8.
