World Food Day 2025

​​World Food Day 2025 kicks off on Wednesday, Oct. 15, with a lively food fair at the Lakeside Patio featuring free food and giveaways. Come learn about healthy eating, urban farming, community gardens, food donations, and ways to get involved with the Miami-Dade Real Food Network. To commemorate World Food Day 2025, a variety of events are scheduled including a panel discussion, consumable fruit stroll through the John C. Gifford Arboretum, film screening, plant-based cooking class, and more.

National Hispanic Heritage Month Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Otto G. Richter Library, Flex Space B
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2-4 p.m.
Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with University Libraries by amplifying 
Hispanic and Latin American voices on Wikipedia. Join us at the Otto G. Richter Library to explore topics that highlight the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latin American communities, while learning how to add reliable, well-sourced information to the free online encyclopedia. This free event is open to all University students, faculty and staff members. No prior experience is needed to participate. Treats from Vicky Bakery and refreshments will be provided. Learn more

Bachelor of General Studies tuition remission info session
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6:30 p.m.
Learn how tuition remission benefits can make finishing your degree more affordable and achievable. Attend a virtual info session for University employees interested in completing their degree through the Bachelor of General Studies Program. Offered by the University of Miami Division of Continuing and International Education, the program allows students to customize their area of study through an interdisciplinary format and flexible course offerings.

The Office of Commencement is looking for full-time employees from the Coral Gables, Marine, or Medical campuses who can provide clear directions, motivate a team of volunteers, and support student success. Team leads are required to participate in a volunteer training session and attend both Fall 2025 Commencement ceremonies on Thursday, Dec. 11. Team lead roles are available for various teams, including greeters and special needs, VIP lobby, and information tent. These teams are responsible for welcoming and supporting our graduates’ guests as they arrive and depart ceremonies. Send an email to strategicevents@miami.edu with questions or to share interest. Even if being a team lead is not for you, you can still sign up now to volunteer for commencement.
