Commemorate the 80th anniversary of Winston Churchill’s Honorary Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law
Wednesday, March 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
On Feb. 26, 1946, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was awarded an Honorary Law Doctorate by the University of Miami. This recognition came during a pivotal era in global history, as Churchill’s leadership helped shape the post-war world and strengthen transatlantic ties. Eighty years later, we commemorate this historic moment and celebrate the enduring partnership between the United Kingdom and Florida across military, cultural, and political spheres. Research Mentoring Summit
Monday, March 23, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Hosted by the University of Miami Office of the Vice Provost for Research and Scholarship, the Research Mentoring Summit will bring together faculty mentors, mentees, and institutional leaders to celebrate outstanding mentoring relationships, share best practices across disciplines, and spark meaningful dialogue and collaboration. The event features a keynote presentation titled “Great Mentors Are Made, Not Born: How Intentional Training Transforms Mentorship.” Participants will have opportunities to engage in stimulating dialogue around effective mentoring. Celebrate award recipients at the Faculty Senate Awards Ceremony
Monday, March 23, 5 p.m. 
Each year the Faculty Senate recognizes three members of the faculty community who represent exemplary teaching, service, and scholarly work. Nominated and selected by their peers based on significant contributions to the University, the award recipients will be honored during the annual ceremony on Monday, March 23, at the Kislak Center at the University of Miami. Smart Cities Miami 2026: 10 years of smart cities lessons, leaps, and the road ahead
Thursday, March 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Celebrating a decade of innovation and progress in building smart cities, the 10th edition of the Smart Cities Miami conference takes a look at the future by bringing together thought leaders and experts for keynote talks and interactive panel discussions on smart city concepts, as well as an expo showcasing cutting-edge technology from faculty innovators, start-ups, and major corporations.
