University of Miami selected to prestigious Association of American Universities
On June 1, the University was chosen as one of the newest members of the esteemed Association of American Universities, a distinguished national organization of leading research universities founded in 1900. The invitation to join the prestigious organization is considered the gold standard in American higher education and puts the University in the top three percent of research institutions in North America.
Prado named interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs
On May 26, the University announced Guillermo “Willy” Prado, former dean of the Graduate School, vice provost for faculty affairs, and professor of nursing and health studies, public health sciences, and psychology, would become the University’s interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. He moved into the new role on July 1.
Urban resilience champion to lead University’s Climate Resilience Academy
Michael Berkowitz, founder of the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities, was named the founding executive director of the Climate Resilience Academy, the University announced.
In addition to Bascom Palmer, the UHealth’s neurology/neurosurgery program ranked No. 20, rising five spots, and three other specialties at UHealth – University of Miami Health System were also recognized. Cancer, geriatrics, and diabetes and endocrinology were named as high performing relative to other hospitals.
Top 10 in Super Lawyers Magazine Reflects Miami Law’s Strong Employment Outcomes and Successes
Super Lawyers magazine's “Law Schools with the Most Alumni Selected by Super Lawyers” listing placed the School of Law eighth in the U.S. out of all law schools. The ranking puts Miami Law as the #1 school in South Florida and #2 in all of Florida. The respected magazine has been profiling outstanding lawyers since 1991.
