Every year, students from the University of Miami College of Engineering’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter take on a rather unusual challenge: building a canoe out of concrete and racing it in what is known as the “America’s Cup of Civil Engineering,” a competition showcasing engineering excellence, hydrodynamic design, and racing technique.
