The University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is conducting a five-year study on the Florida Current.

Lisa Beal, professor of ocean sciences at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, is conducting a five-year study.

FOCUS: The Florida Current and Sea Level will help researchers to better understand how the current is changing over time. Beal and her team of oceanographers will be deploying several mooring array instruments across the Florida Straits—from Palm Beach, Florida, to the Bahamas.

The data will assist to better predict events such as a sunny-day flooding and sea level rise. The research is funded by the National Science Foundation.
